Student Computers
Providing a Computer for Your Students
All students attending Newcomb Secondary College are expected to provide their own computer device for use at school and at home.
Educational studies have shown that students benefit greatly from having access to their own computer device that they can use in classes at school when needed as well as taking the device home to continue study and homework tasks.
Computers are not intended to replace a pen and paper but rather be used as tool to give more opportunities to complete school work in different ways.
If you are planning on purchasing your own laptop we require the minimum specifications as below for all student devices:
- Recommended Core I5 Processor (or a minimum of Core I3 Processor)
- Recommended 8Gb of RAM ( or a minimum of 4 GB )
- Recommended 250Gb Hard Drive ( or a minimum of 128 GB )
- Some cheaper devices have a Hard Drive of less than 70 GB and are intended for use with Cloud-based storage so are unsuitable as they unable to have school software installed.
