Music Programs
All students at Newcomb Secondary College are given the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and participate in one of the College bands.
Students require no knowledge of music before entering the program and do not need to buy an instrument. The College hires instruments to the students for $80.00 per year with a program fee of $80.00 per year. Students can commence learning an instrument from Year 7 and continue on with it to VCE.
We specialise in brass, woodwind and percussion instruments in our instrumental music program and keyboard in our classroom music program.
All students complete classroom music in Years 7 & 8 and it is an elective in Years 9 & 10. We offer VCE music Repertoire Performance and Contemporary Performance in Units 3 & 4.
We have four college bands, Year 7 Concert Band, Year 8 Concert Band, Senior Concert Band and our jazz band - Cold Fusion.
Each year we run a Senior Concert Band Tour for a week and a Junior Music Camp for three days.
