Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences
It was so pleasing to see so many of you in attendance at last week’s Parent, Student, Teacher Conferences. It was evident to all that the discussions in the Language Centre were collaborative and constructive allowing all involved in the education of the student to be clear on strengths already present and aware of areas for further growth. We hope, and expect, that these conversations will continue in your homes and at school, and the supports provided by all to each student can lead towards positive outcomes.
School Tours
An additional School Tour is now available this Thursday May 5 at 1:45pm. Due to overwhelming interest in and the success of our College Information evening on April 4, Newcomb Secondary College are offering additional opportunities for parents, guardians and prospective 2023 Year 7 students to tour the college to witness our school facilities, and in particular, the school learning programs that we offer students. The tour should take around 1 hour to conduct. To secure a tour spot, please contact the Newcomb Secondary College Administration office on (03) 5248 1400. We look forward to seeing you there!

‘This year’s theme encourages all of us to champion institutional, structural, collaborative and cooperative change in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities over generations’. - National Indigenous Australians Agency.
In Term 1, some of our junior Koorie students participated in Aspirations Day at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong. We met up with Aunty May and Aunty Denise, Uncle Richard, Aunty Zeta, Aunty Megan, our KESO Nicholas and a highlight was rubbing shoulders with icon Isaiah Firebrace.
A day filled with lots of activity, old friends, new friends, games, goal setting, hip-hop dancing, making some art with our KESO Nicholas, had lunch and got a show bag full of goodies!
To help build our connections with Wathaurong Co-operative, we will be welcoming another NSC alumnus, Mick Ryan to share his story this Thursday 5th May, 2022 during Homegroup @10.20am and then we will share some morning tea. Mick currently works in the area of health promotions and is a musician.
We look forward to welcoming more community members, family, friends and industry leaders to Newcomb Secondary College to help build aspiration, connection, understanding and resilience amongst our Koorie students.
Keep reaching for the stars! Ms Amanda P, Ms Amanda D. & Mrs Honeywell

P-Tech
It was great to catch up recently at Evologic with our Year 12 P-TECH students Pete and Hunter. Both students have a regular one day per week work placement to compliment their Certificate III in IT completed over Year 10 & 11.
Thanks to Evologic and Tyrone who is supporting their training program. How professional do they both look wearing their Evologic polo shirts and sitting at their own work stations.
In My Classes
We were very excited to welcome back Alumni and Published Author Sarah Cole who finished year 10 at NSC in 1998 (Sarah did her VCE elsewhere). Ms Wray invited Sarah to speak about her teen novel Virozone. Check out our Facebook story for a video of Sarah reading the first page.

Needing to catch up on missed work? Wanting to get on top of your studies? Or, just wanting to stay ahead of the rest of the class? If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, please join us in the LRC on Tuesday afternoons and be a part of our afterschool Learning Club (3:25pm - 4:30pm).
There will be snacks and light refreshments, experienced tutors and NSC teachers to provide help wherever it’s needed. Stay for just a few moments, or for the whole time – whatever is needed. Work with the tutors and teachers, or just do your own thing – the main thing is that you attend!
