Yarning Circle @ NSC
There are so many reasons to go back to your old school and one of them is to see old friends and reflect on the people, teachers and areas of study that have helped to shape your life.
On Thursday 5th May, Mick Ryan and Jannalli Lilburne from Wathaurong Co-Op came to meet our NSC Koorie students and some friends from other classes. Lillie Butcher stood proudly before our guests and audience to share a personal rendition of acknowledgement of country that was heartfelt.
Mick shared his post school pathway with us, speaking candidly about his educational journey at Newcomb Secondary College and beyond to his current role at Wathaurong.
Mick exuded warmth, passion and enthusiasm for his work in Health Promotions, to build strong relationships and trust with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community here in Geelong.
We hope that Mick will come back and play some tunes with our NSC students sometime soon.
After sharing some delicious morning tea together, Mick was keen to take a tour around the school and meet up with some familiar faces such as Mr Davis and Mr Crowther. Great to see that our former students are helping to build a strong, healthy and creative community.
Until next time.
