Years 73, 81 & 82
Last week students in Years 73, 81 and 82 explored the concept of the "double chance" for the top 4 teams in the top 8 system of sporting finals that occur at this time of the year.
After discussing as a class the structures of their own local team's league finals, we generated many finals (15 to 20 years worth) over 3 tables of dice games in each class. There was much fun to be had.
The probability results were a 4:1 chance in group 82 and a 3:1 chance in the other 2 classes. One student in Group 82 won all of 6 straight Grand Finals, much to the disbelief of the class. After throwing mostly 6s they are now considering a career as a professional gambler.

Whittington Primary School Transition Visit
On Tuesday 30th August, we had our grade 5 friends from Whittington Primary School come for a visit to experience a taster session in our specialist On2Wheels program. Mr Unmack and Mr Klingberg taught the grade 5 students how to change and repair a tyre puncture- what a useful skill to acquire!
We have also welcomed the grade 5/6 students from Tate Street Primary School who were lucky enough to experience a taster session with the drones in our Auditorium space with Mr Relouw. TSPS also had a taster session in our ceramics studio with Miss Hill, it was wonderful to see the pinch pots created and impressive team work from TSPS students.
Once again a massive thank you to Mr Relouw, Mr Unmack, Mr Klingberg, Mr Amer, Tania Reed, Mrs Honeywell, Miss Boland and Miss Hill for their involvement in the running of these activities.
