Welcome Back
Yesterday we welcomed students back for the start of term 4, 2022. We conducted a brief assembly before getting back into our learning programs. Special mention (of course) for our Year 12s who are rapidly closing in on the completion of their secondary education. We also mentioned that we will have a number of visitors with us on Wednesday to formally open our new facilities.
Staffing News
I am very happy to thank a number of staff who adjusted their roles while I was on leave. So thank you to Scott McLeod who was Acting Principal, Jeremy Sinclair who was Acting Assistant Principal and Ebony Dedini who was the Acting Leader of the Senior School. It is great that so many members of staff can successfully adjust their roles so the College doesn’t miss a beat.

Year 10 Work Experience
Congratulations to our Year 10 students who participated in work experience during the last week of term 3. It was fantastic to witness the application of their employability skills in varied industries. Completing work experience during Year 10 gives our students great opportunities to delve into the world of work and gain a greater understanding of potential industries of interest for the future. It also helps students with their decision making for future schooling and study pathways beyond Newcomb Secondary College. Whilst the pandemic severely impacted these opportunities in the last two years, it has been really encouraging to see our students engaging in this in 2022.
A big thank you to the wonderful host employers, especially BKM Electrics who have been supporting 2 NSC students throughout the year.
If you would like to host one of our students for work experience in the future, we would love to hear from you! The next week is scheduled for the 7th-11th of November (Week 6) and we again encourage all Year 10 students to actively engage in this opportunity.

COVID Update
COVID-19 isolation requirements
Any staff or staff member who tests positive to COVID-19 must now isolate for a minimum of 5 days instead of 7. If they are asymptomatic, they may return to school on day 6. If they are symptomatic, they remain in isolation until day 7. If they have symptoms after 7 days, they are strongly advised to stay home until their symptoms have resolved.
As an additional risk mitigation, the Department of Health strongly recommends that those leaving isolation wear a face mask when away from home, both indoors and outdoors, and when they cannot physically distance. Those leaving isolation on day 6 should wear a mask for 5 days but particularly the first 2 days. Those leaving isolation on day 7 should wear a mask for 4 days but particularly the first 2 days.
Those leaving isolation should consider taking a rapid antigen test before attending school.
