Music News
Congratulations to all students who performed in the Music (Bands) Concert last Tuesday 18th October.
All band performances were excellent on the night, and a big thank you to all students who worked as a team to get the night organised, and were extremely efficient in packing up afterwards.
Many thanks to all families and friends who supported the evening. It was wonderful to see so many people in the audience. You should all be very proud of your child’s participation in the music program.
It is our pleasure as the music staff to be able to work with such wonderful young people.

Time Capsule for Leopold Primary School
Newcomb Secondary College students proudly handed over the time capsule we have designed and built for Leopold primary school, in preparation for their 150 years celebration to be held on the 23rd of October.
It was super exciting to be able to put our new CNC machine to use and engrave the lid- we think it came up great!
The time capsule will remain on display in the Leopold Primary School foyer, to be opened in 25 years time 2047!

Kopi Shop
The Kopi shop initiative runs every day at recess. It provides a place for students to come and learn some coffee skills on our amazing machine.
These students who commit to learning then have the confidence to apply for a part time job as a Barista.
Come see Tania anytime if you have some interest in training in 2023. Always looking for new students to support in this pathway.

9 GROW - Coasting Drones
This term, the four Year 9 GROW classes are undertaking a joint unit in GROW with the Geelong Tech School and Surf Life Saving Victoria.
The project utilises 'Drone Technology' and CASA 'Civil Aviation Safety Authority' protocols in assessing coastal waterways of Geelong and how drones form an integral part of SLSV safety. They view safety data, pilot drones for their capabilities and offer solutions where they assess potential needs.
Thankyou to the Tech School and SLSV for the opportunity to work with you!

Important Dates to Remember
As approved at the most recent School Council meeting, please note the following two days for which classes will not be running for students.
The Professional Learning Day (Nov 3) provides an opportunity for a collective rich learning experience for staff, ensuring staff are best supported to deliver learning for all students.
The Professional Practice Day (Nov 24) allows staff the opportunity to plan future lessons and assess students completed work without disruption. Teaching is an important job and thus these DET and School Council approved days are welcome opportunities for staff to continue to support each and every student at NSC.
Professional Learning Day (student free): Thursday Nov 3
Professional Practice Day (no regular classes running): Thursday Nov 24
