Careers in Health Work Shop
Earlier this month Barwon Health hosted 30 students from North Geelong Secondary College, Northern Bay College and Newcomb Secondary College who were interested in a career in health.
Most of the students thought they wanted to be nurses, midwives, paramedics or doctors, but throughout the day they were exposed to a range of clinical and non-clinical careers in health, which widened their eyes to the variety of opportunities in health.
The students toured parts of the McKellar Centre, participated in casting at McKellar Kids' Rehab, and had a go at Allied Health assistant, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology activities.
The students were also informed about job opportunities at Barwon Health, and heard from two consumers who spoke about the importance of caring and the impact that different health professionals can have on a patient's journey.

Alumni Visit
We had a great time welcoming Jason Tom, an Alumni who graduated in 2004 back to our school.
Jason discussed his career in policework, culminating in becoming a Detective. Jason also played a lot of football and now works for the AFL, coaching and developing a local team in his home town Cairns.
Mr Bell's GROW class had a lot of questions. Thanks heaps for your visit Jason.

VCAL
In term 3, our VCAL students went on an amazing industry tour by the Sharp group.
That tour inspired our vibrant year 11 student Jewelea, to reach out to the Flying Brick, hoping for work experience in hospitality.
Every Thursday she puts on her professional team gear, and experiences what it's like to work in this beautiful part of the world.
