Staff Professional Learning and Pupil Free Days
Last week staff at Newcomb Secondary College participated in a whole school professional learning experience, focusing on the Berry Street Educational Model.
We wish to thank everyone for your understanding and support of this professional learning by all staff at Newcomb SC.
Year 11 to 12 Orientation
The seats in the Year 12 common area barely had time to cool. Less than a week after the last exam for the Class of 2021, the Class of 2022 had commenced their Year 12 studies and eagerly taken the seats of their predecessors.
Whilst both teachers and students are tired and eager for the holidays, there has been an upbeat approach to the new Year 12 classes. Classes are using this time to tick off a few of the Key Knowledge points of the first Area of Study or to inform students as to the options where they exist in the study design so a decision can be reached before the end of year break commences.
A great start for the Class of 2022!
The Junior Music Camp
The Junior Music Camp is finally happening this week at Angahook Holiday Camp. We wish everyone well and to enjoy their time.
College Council
The November meeting of the Newcomb Secondary College Council took place last Thursday evening in the Food Technology area. Among the items discussed were our planning for 2022, securing uniform supplies and the latest COVID guides.

We celebrated the successful completion of the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge with a delectable morning tea in the Library.
Well done to Eliza, Cooper, Rennie and Rebecca for their excellent reading efforts.
All recipients who completed the challenge, read at least 15 books and received a certificate and a Dymocks gift voucher.
In the Library
Last week a band of helpful students and staff got together to erect the school Christmas tree in the Library.
The tree is now gleaming with tinsel and decorations.

Out and About
Treetops
The 2022 Year 11 and Year 12 VCAL students got to know each other at a teamwork challenge at the Treetops Park at Yeodene. The weather was perfect, and all students had a great time, with everyone giving at least 1 course a go. Most didn’t want to get on the bus to come back home!
PreCAL Clean Up
The PreCal class braved the weather and ventured to Portarlington to ‘clean up the streets’. This was part of the “still making a difference unit” that was led by students after original plans couldn’t go ahead.
Outdoor Ed Surfing
9/10 Outdoor Ed having surfing lessons at Ocean Grove Beach. We love having excursions back in action!
