From the Principal Team
Orientation Week
It has been great to see students transitioning into their 2022 classes across the course of this week, and doing so with high levels of enthusiasm and a readiness to learn.
The underlying purpose of Orientation Week is to give students an opportunity to meet with their 2022 teachers and mentors, and to permit an opportunity for a head start on key units of work, projects and assignments. Attendance for the whole of this week is an easy way to ensure the best possible start to the challenges and opportunities awaiting all of our learners in 2022.
On Tuesday of Week 10 (7/12), we are very excited by the prospect of meeting our 2022 Year 7 cohort!
There will not be alternative activities for other students running onsite across this day, as most staff will be involved with the running of transition events for the 2022 Year 7 students. However, any student from other year levels still needing to attend the school, will be able to receive supervision across the course of the day.
We are nearing the end of what has been a complex and challenging year – let’s do what we can to all support one another and ensure that we finish 2021 in the best and most successful way possible!
School Awards 2021
Celebrating Success at NSC. Even in a year as turbulent as 2021, and perhaps because of this, NSC has more awards nominations than ever. More than 90 students will receive awards at the Junior School Awards Ceremony (9:00am 14/12/21) and Senior School Awards Ceremony (10:30am 14/12/21) in our new auditorium. Awards vary from general high achievement at a particular year level, to academic growth in a particular subject throughout 2021. There will also be the regular awards for music, sport and scholarships.
Students who will be receiving awards and their families have been notified via Compass email and will need to RSVP to the office ASAP if they wish to have a fully vaccinated family member (or 2) attend the event.
Principal on Leave
Phil Honeywell is on Long Service Leave for the remainder of this year. Assistant Principal Scott McLeod will be stepping into this role as the Acting Principal for the remainder of 2021.

Graduation
GRADUATION 2021
With the removal of density limits, we can now have some family members attend the actual Graduation ceremony in person. Our new auditorium will now be limited by its physical size and the capacity of the retractable tiered seating. Therefore we are pleased to allow for 2 family members per student to attend the ceremony in person.
Other family members may attend the event for photos and refreshments in the courtyard before and after the event, but will need to view the ceremony through a live stream on YouTube. We will provide some rooms within the school to view this.
All adults in attendance at any part of the event will need to be fully vaccinated.
Music Report
Junior Music Camp
The Junior Music Camp was re-scheduled from August to November 22nd-24th. Mrs Stabryla, Mr Crowther, Mrs Honeywell and Mr Goward were extremely proud of how great all the students were on this camp. A big thank you to Mr Unmack for bringing the bike down on Tuesday and spending the day with us. The students made excellent progress with their music skills and had lots of fun on the rope swing, bike riding, basketball court, playing games and most of all dancing in the rain.
