2023 Orientation Program & End of Year 2022 Programs
It always seems surreal at this time of the school year that despite the focus on the current learning and assessment program, we focus much of our energy and planning on the following years learning program- no wonder many of us forget what year it actually is! So to make sense of this, here is the breakdown and dates to take note of-
Promotions Program (Year 12 2023)
Upon reading this Newsletter article, students are mid-way through the 2023 Promotion program. The Promotions program offers students the opportunity to trial their 2023 learning schedule, meet with their new teachers, learn more about their new subjects and meet fellow classmates. This opportunity allows students to get a taste for their 2023 subjects and courses and prepare for the year of learning ahead. It has been evident thus far that students have appreciated and engaged in the Promotions program- there is certainly a feel of excitement and enthusiasm around the college. One thing can be sure, at the end of the Promotions program we can rest assured that all students will be as prepared as they possibly can be to commence 2023 successfully from day 1.
Some other features of the remaining weeks of Term 4 include-
Inclusion Transition Program
This program, commencing November 15, caters for our new Year 7 students joining the college in 2023. The students participating in this extended transition program have been selected in consultation with our Feeder schools and Newcomb SC.
Promotions Program (Year 8-11 2023)
This program, commencing November 28 and running for 1-week, allows the 2023 Year 8- 11 students to commence their 2023 courses with their teachers prior to the end of 2022. This opportunity allows students to get a taste for their 2023 subjects and courses and prepare for the year of learning ahead. The program prepares students, provides a chance to iron out any issues and thus commence 2023 when students return without further disruption.
Orientation Program (Year 7 2023)
This program day on December 13 welcomes our new Year 7 students for 2023. These excited students will have the opportunity to start to feel comfortable at Newcomb SC. Students will be provided lots of information, tour the school, meet some of their teachers, enjoy some activities and of course, meet their student peers. It is a great day, and for most, it is a day that sits forever in their memories and facilitates the start of many new life-long friendships.
End of Year Program (Year 7-10 2022)
This program, commencing December 5 for 2-weeks, will bring the 2022 school year to a close with fun and engaging activities, experiences and learning tasks. Students will participate in a series of focus days led by the Learning Area teams featuring group-work, challenges and excursions.
The feature days include- Respectful Relationships day, GROW Tech school immersion day, ‘Get active’ HAPE day, ‘Say what?’ English day, Adventure Park fun day, ‘What’s the solution?’- Maths/ Science day, Grand Designs Art & Technology day and a Positive Futures Framework feature day.
