Melbourne Writers' Festival
By Ruby-Rose Braddock
Ten fortunate students attended the Melbourne Writers’ Festival Secondary Schools workshop day last Tuesday, where they were able to interact with four different authors throughout the day.
Nova Weetman taught us how to build a character by defining them by their wants and fears. Lili Wilkinon spoke about genre and how to produce ideas to expand your work. Kay Kerr revealed the struggle of being a neurodivergent author and the process of going from writing fiction to non-fiction.
Tom Taylor hosted an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session. We learnt about his journey from theatre to comics. It was a fantastic opportunity for all those involved. We would like to thank Ms Allinson and our very helpful librarian Adele for taking us to the festival.
