Senior Boys' AFL
By Mr Bell & Mr Publiese
The Newcomb Secondary Senior Boys AFL Team headed out to Herne Hill, to compete in the Interschool AFL Competition.
The side was captained by Matty Harrison and coached by Mr Bell and Mr Pugliese.
The first match up drew Northern Bay, with things looking rough in the first quarter with an early injury to Ollie Foot and being down three goals. Inspired by the words of wisdom of Mr Pugliese, Newcomb Secondary College kicked six unanswered in the second term and did not look back at the end of the four quarters winning by ten goals.
Jack Brough, Jaykeb Payley, Bailey Thomas and Jack Scanlon, all had a major influence on the game, and played exceptionally well.
This effort got us into the Preliminary Final against a well-constructed Western Heights Team.
Unfortunately, Newcomb Secondary College, was unable to get over the line despite some interesting tactics by the coaching team.
We would like to thank Riley Cameron, who was our goal umpire, who did a fantastic job for the team.
Additionally, we would also like to thank Simone Datson for taking some awesome photos and supporting our Team on the sidelines.
Lastly, Mr Pugliese and I would also like to personally commend the boys on their fantastic Team Spirit, effort, and camaraderie throughout the day. It was a privilege to both be a part of such a fantastic day!
Go Seahorses!
