Life is always about making adjustments and accepting change. Such experiences should not be feared however as with change comes new opportunities and growth. Newcomb Secondary College is transitioning through a period of change at present with new leadership structures taking shape. Pleasingly, this exciting period for the school is being effectively managed in a way to ensure that stability remains for the school community.
With that in mind, we are pleased to announce, and introduce the new Assistant Principal of Newcomb Secondary College
- Mrs Kelly Montano.
Kelly is an innovative, organised and very approachable person who is very excited to add value to all areas at Newcomb SC. Throughout her journey in education, Kelly has established an impressive leadership record, with her influence spanning across a wide range of portfolios, programs and other areas of school leadership and management. Kelly is a really engaging person who is very keen to get to know all members of the community- I have no doubt, Kelly will be well-received by all staff, students and the entire community when she commences with us in early August.
Whilst introducing Kelly as the new Assistant Principal, we should also acknowledge Mr Jeremy Sinclair for his contributions in the role of Acting Assistant Principal at Newcomb SC over the course of Semester 1 and throughout the start of Semester 2. Jeremy is an amazing member of the college community, and a fine leader, who has a great future at the pointy end of school leadership when the time is right for him to pursue such a role full-time. Thankyou Jeremy for your collegial support, commitment to this wonderful community and for your leadership.
It was great to see members of our community attend the Pathways information evening last Thursday evening. The Pathways team have been putting in many hours of preparation for our Course Counselling resource and program to ensure that all students and their carers can navigate this important phase of their secondary schooling in an informed and supported manner.
Daily attendance is important for all students to succeed in education and to ensure that they do not fall behind, socially and academically. Both schools and parents have an important role to play in supporting students to attend school every day and to be at school on time and ready to learn.
When students arrive late, they miss important introductions to the school day, impacting on how they settle into the routines of school and further impacting socially and academically. Our students are committed to attending school every day, arriving on time to each class, and are prepared to learn. Our students are encouraged to approach a teacher and seek assistance if there are any issues that are affecting their attendance or lateness in the mornings. If you would like to speak to someone regarding your student’s attendance or lateness, we are here to help. Please contact the school office on 5248 1400.
There are quite a number of clothing items in Lost Property including: School Jackets, Sized S, M, L and 2XL, a large Sports Shirt, and a number of head phones, watches, and more.
Please ask your student to drop by the office if they are missing any of these items.
