GRIP Student Leadership Conference
By Ms Allinson
On Tuesday the 13th of February the Newcomb Secondary College School Captain and Vice Captains: Phoebe Cobb, Rennie Collins and Ella Hope, attended the GRIP Student Leadership Conference at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre. The conference was run in a very professional and highly engaging way and allowed the captains to discuss their goals for the year as well as share their thoughts with students from other schools. Students discussed strategies such as Step Up, Step In and Step Out when discussing school improvements, and some of the sacrifices necessary to be an effective leader. Here is Rennie’s reflection of the day:
One thing I enjoyed about the day was the presenters who were very knowledgeable and engaging and really fun, and it involved numerous games and activities we could complete while meeting people from other schools. We got some great ideas from the leadership conference about how to engage the students in new ways, as well as some great ideas we could do as a leadership team. One idea we’re really excited about is making a mini market that would involve the whole school and get everyone engaged and working together.
