Senior Boys Basketball:
On the 11th of July, the Newcomb Secondary College senior basketball teams left the campus to compete against other schools, at AWA stadium. The first matchup was against Bannockburn, the boys started out strong taking a big lead early in the first half. In the second half, it was much the same as we held onto the lead and all team members getting buckets.
The momentum kept us pumped up during the second game against our second opposition, Northern Bay. The boys came out and dominated in this half keeping Northen Bay close to scoreless. Great all-round team play saw us winning at the end of a hard 20 minutes of basketball.
After two impressive wins, the boys were onto the semi-final against Belmont. The team was intimidating to the boys but after a rev up from coach Corey Bell, the boys were ready to take them on. It was an intense first half with 1 point the difference Newcomb’s way. The second half was hard fought and ended in a draw resulting in overtime, next score wins. After some poor judgement by the referees, Belmont was awarded the ball and scored to grab the win. The day was very successful for the Seahorses winning two games and making it to the finals. The students enjoyed playing together and accomplishing what they did. Massive thanks to Jodie for helping out with scoring on the day!

Senior Girls Basketball:
On Tuesday the 11th of July, the Newcomb Secondary College Senior girls' basketball team headed out to Geelong Sports Hub to compete in the inter school basketball competition. The first game was against Oberon. Our girls came out firing, intercepting passes, and showing some great teamwork. We were able to secure the win by 42 points.
Our second game was against Bellarine, and once again we banded together putting on a great display of determination and skill to secured an 18 point win. This win progressed us into the finals against Western Heights. We had lots of fun playing against a very challenging and skilled team. We put up a good fight but unfortunately our winning streak came to an end. Millie Andrews came away with best on for the day being our leading scorer.

Their first game was against Geelong High, and they won (go seahorses), but unfortunately, they just barely lost their second game against Bellarine Secondary College.

Senior Badminton
This week a few of the senior students went out to play badminton against other schools such as Belmont, North Geelong and Bellarine. Whilst the boys didn’t find much success during the day, the girls made the semi-finals. Overall, everyone enjoyed themselves which made for a great day.

Senior Netball
On Thursday the 20th of July, the Interschool Sport Senior Boys and Girls Netball tournament was held at Geelong Sports Hub. Many schools attended, which Newcomb Secondary College was one of the many schools showing off their netball talent. The boys and girls both had really good days winning 2/3 games on the day. Teamwork and Communication Skills were outstanding throughout the day, which created for a great team atmosphere. Thanks to Coaches Corey Bell and Grace Hill for being there on the day and for running trainings leading up to the event.
