Sport Report: Senior Cricket & Interschool Swimming
By Mr Corey Bell
Interschool Swimming
Interschool Swimming was held at Kardinia Pool, and featured seven of our Newcomb students. Competition was extremely strong, as we competed against some really strong swimmers. Congratulations to Georgia Dunn who achieved 3rd in two of her events. Thank you also to Ms Dyer for assisting on the day. We were also fortunate to have Noah and Karina from the Blue Edge program with us to support our students.
Senior Cricket
On the 2nd of March the Newcomb Secondary College Senior Cricket team headed out to compete in the Inter School Cricket competition. The first game was against Geelong High School, who were sent into bat. Our Newcomb Secondary College team was able to dismiss their team all out for 74, with Jesse Bell taking a spectacular classic catch to round out the innings. We then went onto chase the total fairly comfortably, with opening batter Maddux retiring for 25 not out.
This win progressed us into the final against Western Heights. We again bowled first, with Western Heights posting a large total of 160. Newcomb Secondary College made a great fist of the chase scoring 120, with Jack Brough smashing some large Sixes towards the end. A big thank you to Mel Falvey and Kea Packer for helping assist on the day!
Go Seahorses!
