Final Days of Term 1
It is at this point of the term where many start to count down to the holidays. We trust that the upcoming break will offer a great opportunity to recharge the batteries, rest and recuperate surrounded by family, friends and those who you care about.
Yet again, Term 1 has not let us down! It has been a busy action-packed term featuring everything that makes a school so rewarding, ranging from whole school sporting events, to engaging classroom learning activities. We also welcomed our new Year 7 students to the college and started our Year 12 students on their final year journey.
Term Activities
The College Summer Sports Day and Athletics Carnivals were a raging success, full of participation and activity and in addition we have enjoyed many other excursions and incursions all aimed at value, adding to the learning program and offering a holistic school experience. Our Rone experience was amazing, and the feature works will remain with the school forever and in the memories of all involved for their lifetime. The music program continues to go from strength to strength, as do our learning intervention programs such as, the reading program and tutor initiative. We have collectively celebrated student achievement and successes, as well as offered a gentle and supportive nudge to others when needed.
Over the course of the term, we have welcomed Grade 4, 5 and 6 students from far and wide, from our fantastic feeder schools and those students from further afield into the college to experience life as a Newcomb Secondary College student. Our staff conducted classes in Food, STEM, Science, PE and more during these sessions, all of which were thoroughly enjoyed! The Parent Tours conducted on 29th March were well attended, as was our Information Evening on 3rd April. It was very pleasing to see so many prospective Year 7 students and their parents/carers join us for the evening and equally great to hear so many fantastic positive comments about Newcomb Secondary College!
The last day of Term 1 is Thursday 6th April. The school day will finish at 2.30pm. It will be at this time that we will publish our Term 1 Positive Learning Qualities, displaying both the previous (Week 5) and the new (Week 10) report data on Compass for you to review and discuss together with your student.
Term 2 will commence on Monday 24th April, noting that Tuesday 25th April will be the ANZAC Day public holiday.
We hope that all members of the Newcomb Secondary College community have a wonderful holiday break. A break in which to relax, recharge the batteries in preparation for Term 2. An opportunity to spend quality time with those close to you and doing those things that make you happy. Whatever your break looks like, stay safe and enjoy!
See you all in Term 2!
Mr McLeod
