Term 3 Staffing News
There are a number of staffing arrangements that will take place while our Principal, Mr Honeywell, goes on 7 weeks leave, commencing from the 2nd of August through until the end of Term 3. As a result, the following Newcomb SC staff members will fill the following roles-
Scott McLeod - Acting Principal
Jeremy Sinclair - Acting Assistant Principal (Yrs 10-12)
Ebony Dedini – Acting Leading Teacher (Senior School)
Mai Le- Arts (replacing Sue Honeywell for the remainder of Term 3)
I know I can say on behalf of the entire Newcomb SC family that we wish Phil and Sue a great break whilst on leave- we know you’ll have a great time!
In other staffing updates, we welcome back Sarah Crane from her maternity leave. Sarah returns to her teaching of Indonesian and Physical Education.
We also pass on our best wishes to Daryl Farnham, who takes up an exciting opportunity at Hamlyn Banks Primary School. Good luck Daryl. Whilst the entire Newcomb SC community will miss you, we truly hope it goes well for you.
COVID-19 UPDATE- Return to School
We hope this finds you and your families safe and well during an immensely challenging time.
It is important that we acknowledge everyone’s efforts in supporting Newcomb Secondary College students and staff during the latest phase of Remote and Flexible online learning.
Following today’s announcement by the Victorian Government, all students will return to school onsite on Wednesday July 28.
Whilst we are still awaiting further details from the Department of Education. What we do know, following the Premiers announcement, is that face masks will be mandated for all people 12 years and older whilst at school, including travelling to and from school. Equally, students will need to apply social distancing.
We encourage you to stay connected to the Compass News feed for the latest updates. As always, we will continue to share announcements with you as soon as they come to hand.
Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
During Term 3, we conduct our Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences allowing for rich discussions to take place regarding student growth and achievement.
The first of these offerings, the Year 12 PTS conferences, took place last Thursday, July 22. Due to the current lockdown, the PTS conference format took a new look, being conducted successfully online via Google Meet. It was pleasing to see so many families participate in the conferences and thank all Year 12 Newcomb SC staff for the preparation they put into the conferences.
The next offering of our Parent/Teacher/Student conferences, for those students in Year 7- 11 will take place on week 7 of this Term. The session dates are:
Term 3 Parent/Teacher/Student Conference Dates
- Year 12 Conferences- Thursday July 22 (completed)
- Year 7-11 Conferences- Thursday Aug 26
More details for the PTS Conferences (Year 7- 11) on Aug 26 will be communicated to students and families via Compass shortly.

Thanks to our industry partners such as Prestige Jayco our students get the opportunity to experience some “hands on” work in a real work placement environment.
Bryce certainly had that opportunity recently when he was accepted at Prestige Jayco to do one week of work experience.
Thank you to Sharon and her team for this opportunity!
