From the Principal Team
WELCOME BACK ALL STUDENTS
We were very excited about the return to site for all of our students last week, Friday October 22nd.
To celebrate this milestone, we held a complimentary sausage sizzle at recess
(following COVID-safe guidelines).
There was also a range of activities and games happening in the yard during lunch.
As our community continues to work through the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it remains essential that we keep following the Victorian Government's health guidelines around
mask-wearing (unless exemptions apply), personal hygiene, and remaining at home when experiencing any signs of being unwell.
With the return of our full cohort, for the first time in many long months, Newcomb Secondary College will once again be a dynamic and vibrant place of learning, and we are all very excited
by this prospect!
Thank you for all of your patience and support along the way.
Parent Forum
Newcomb Secondary College is currently undertaking a review as part of the Victorian Department of Education and Training’s 4 year cycle of review and planning for Government Schools.
As a part of this review process we would like to conduct a Parent Forum where a small number of parents can discuss their thoughts about the areas of school operations that are seen as strong and those needing improvement. This forum will include conversations about student learning, student support and wellbeing as well as pathways and post school transitions.
The forum will be hosted by School Council President Michael Graham and the conversations will be led by Lucy Glover, Associate Director Valad Solutions, the Department of Education’s independent reviewer.
Date: Wednesday 27 October from 5.00pm until 5.45pm (approx.)
Due to Covid restrictions the forum will take place online and attendees will receive a link to facilitate access.
If you would like to be involved please contact the Newcomb Secondary College office on 5248 1400 to register your interest. The attendee list will be actioned on a ‘first come – first served’ basis with any additional interested parents being on a list in case any individuals are unable to attend.
We look forward to a very productive conversation in the interest of all of the students at Newcomb Secondary College.

Year 12s Update
CONGRATULATIONS YEAR 12s!
Friday, 22 October marked the last official day of classes for our Year 12 students.
We are so proud of the work they have put in and wish them the very best of luck
for their upcoming exams.
A big congratulations to you all on conducting yourself so maturely.
There are some circumstances where attendance may continue in the days and weeks to come.
Please see the below information which relates to your circumstance.
VCE students undertaking exams
Your teachers will continue to run classes to assist you in revising up until the exam for that subject. It is expected that you will attend all classes until then unless you are in another exam or are absent for illness or other legitimate reason.
You are advised to minimise your involvement in situations which could expose you to a person carrying COVID-19 during the exam period.
Please also see the attached document regarding attendance if you become a Primary Close Contact of someone with COVID-19. If this is the case, please inform me at the school at the soonest opportunity.
VCE students not undertaking exams (unscored)
Your teachers will inform you when you have attained an 'S' result for their subject. Until that point, you are expected to be in full attendance for that subject. You are advised to be at school and studying in the time you are not in class, until you have attained an 'S' result for all subjects.
VCAL students
You're required to attend school until your teachers have informed Mrs Dedini that you have gained an 'S' for their subject and Mrs Dedini is satisfied that you are eligible for your VCAL certificate. Please attend until Mrs Dedini informs you otherwise.
